Role Description:
Benjamin was hired on October 5th 1999 as an entry level web developer. While at this position Benjamin acted as one of the primary developers on several HP sites. In January of 2000 he was promoted to web developer and began designing comps for clients. In addition he went through courses of Search Engine Strategy and became the Metrics Manager and Search Engine Strategist for the company. In June of 2000 Benjamin was again promoted to senior web developer. As a senior web developer, Benjamin developed courseware to train the other developers in the company. He made several presentations to the entire web group on optimizing web sites to improve load time in addition to search engine strategy. In March of 2001 he was promoted to Site Lead and was responsible for leading a team of 6 web developers in production and maintenance of the Exodus Communications web site. In addition, the position required strong quality assurance skills and some web development. During August of 2001, Benjamin was given his most challenging site. The hp/Oracle Alliance site consisted of over 4000 files, only 500 of which were actually being used. The site was a web developers worst nightmare. Benjamin spent two months organizing and executing a cleanup operation and later convinced the client to upgrade his site with an improved Usage Tracking Tool. By the time it was completed the client was ecstatic and wanted more. By the time Benjamin left NetRefresh he had completely restructured the web site, designed a new look, and organized it so edits that took hours could now be done in minutes. It contained a Content Management System, Link Tracking, Usage tracking, and even dynamically changing pages based on the number of links they contained. The hp/Oracle Alliance site not only became a wonderful portfolio piece for NetRefresh but it's Content Management Engine built by Benjamin Foley became a marketable item which would later be used on the hp/BEA Alliance site and the Systems Integrator site.
